GET YOUR GRUB ON: 5 Tips for Your Gay Wedding Reception.

Gay Wedding Reception Planning Tips

1. It’s my party. The menu should reflect a style and manner that you would have in your home. This is your dinner party. The caterer should include courses, ingredients, preparation and presentation that you would use in your own home. Pay particular attention to how you present each course, including your choice of china, flatware, glassware and linens.

2. Getting to know you. Build a seating chart that takes into account your guests' common interests, personalities and backgrounds while still introducing them to new people you know they would enjoy meeting.

3. Muzak. Schedule music during dinner that won’t drown out conversation and that is easily interrupted for toasts.

4. Cheers. Schedule toasts in-between courses to allow for a leisurely pace of service while not interrupting the flow of the meal.

5. Take another 5 or 15. Allow plenty of time between the wedding ceremony and the meal for congratulations, hugs, kisses and high-fives. It will take more time than you think to move from the ceremony to the celebration so allow for extra time.
