DENVER: SHOPPING MECCA
Remember the days when fashion labels would list the various cities they called home? London, Paris, Milan, New York were often the cities listed under the brand's flashy logo. There were always those clever clothing lines that would include an off-the-beaten-path location like Acapulco or Hong Kong, which back then was far afield. Were brands today to still use this convention, they'd simply say The World given the spread of global retailing and fast fashion.
But, were we to go back to the good old days, we at Men's Vows bet that Denver would find itself among the many cities that stylish gentlemen, would turn to for the latest in sartorial trends. In fact, the men's fashion scene in Denver is one to reckon with, especially for those embracing a Made-in-America, casual vibe.
While we aren't going to overwhelm you with choices for bespoke suiting, we have included some of our favorite Denver shops and some stand-out bars, barbers, coffee shops and eateries to make for a great afternoon of Mile High shopping.
Armitage & McMillan
In LoHi, Armitage & McMillan features a range of tasteful men's clothing that is as at home in the mountains as it is in the city. They carry brands such as A.P.C., Saturdays Surf NYC, Steve Alan and more. Stay on Platte Street and enjoy one of Denver's best sushi restaurants at Sushi Sasa (no river trout here, they fly in free fish on the regular). Get the Moriawase bento box during lunch hours for a great deal on nigiri, a roll, salad and miso. Or check out My Brother's Bar serving up burgers and beers since the days of beat poet Neal Cassady. For a libation or two, duck into the speakeasy Ste. Ellie for creative and masterful cocktails (ask about the copper pineapple goblet — it's a treat!).
Steadbrook
On South Broadway, be sure to swing by Steadbrook, for hip urban fashions from a collection of indie designers. No need to go too far afield for a cup of joe, as they serve the cappuccinos up right in the store. For a sweet end to your shopping spree, head down the street to Sweet Action Ice Cream for fun, creative and delicious flavors. Stroll the vintage shops along the rest of South Broadway in search of that unique item to cap off your Denver look.
