IN THEIR WORDS: KYLE AND CHRIS
In this installment of "In Their Words," we're hearing from Kyle and Chris, who hail from Huntsville, Ontario. Read on for some of the best toast inspiration, ever!!
What was your first date?
"Chris and I met on Grindr. We were over 250-kilometres away from each other and really, if it wasn't for Grindr, we would have never met. We chatted for 2 weeks and decided to meet. So he drove to meet me at a coffee shop down the street from my house. But I decided to tell him to just come to my house. When he pulled in the driveway I felt like I was seeing him for the first time in forever rather than the first time ever. He spent the night that night. And the next night, and the next, and the next... and he never left."
What's your favorite moment from your engagement day?
"I had all these ideas of how I wanted it to happen. I knew Pride Weekend in Toronto would be perfect." Kyle said. "I was gonna just stop in the street, get on one knee and propose. There would be people everywhere so there would be pictures everywhere after of our moment."
"Then I decided I wanted it to just be us two. But, not kidding, every time I thought to go for it, the same song started playing. Four times!! And, not that I was freaked out by the words to 'These Boots Are Made for Walking' it was just that I kept being sent a sign to hold off."
"So that evening after our looong drive home, while sitting on our front porch discussing the weekend I said, 'You know what would make this weekend even better?' Chris tiredly replied, 'No babe I'm not rubbing your back tonight!' I laughed and said, 'Okay but that's not what I was going to say. This weekend would be THAT much better if...you say yes.' I slid off my seat on to my knee and asked, 'Will you marry me?' His eyes lit up. 'Is this for real? Are you serious right now?! Oh my god YES!!'"
Do you have any rituals as a couple?
"3 kisses, always."
How might your best friends describe you as a couple?
"We're real, authentic and special. That we compliment each other in many aspects of our lives."
Please include a quote from your vows:
"Our wedding is next year. My oldest son already told me he wants to make a speech and that he's already thought of what to say. He said that over the past four years he's watched us together and knows (at 12) that we are a perfect example of a healthy relationship."
From the mouth of babes, as they say!! Wishing Kyle and Chris a blissful engagement and we look forward to sharing their wedding wisdom next year after they marry in July 2018!
