IN THEIR WORDS: JAKE & SEAN
Jake and Sean met in 2011, got engaged in 2015 and in 2017 were married. We loved hearing their story and you’ll soon read why we are “euphoric” for this couple having found each other.
“Our first date was at local bar called Al's Wine & Whiskey Lounge in our hometown of Syracuse, NY. After a couple weeks of talking on the phone and texting, we agreed to meet. We arrived at the same time in a nearby parking lot, and Jake remembers walking behind Sean down the block and into the bar. He was so excited. He also remembers how Sean ordered two Grey Goose cocktails to try and impress. We sat at the bar for a couple hours just enjoying each other’s company. It was the perfect first encounter!
We're always down to have a good time whether it be a simple get-together dinner party or a night out. We have very similar outgoing personalities, but Jake likes the spotlight perhaps a little more than Sean. Part of the reason we work so well is that Sean lets Jake have his moment(s) and Jake knows when it's Sean's turn as well.
It's important to us to try and experience new things each year. Before we got together, Jake was not much of a traveler. Since we've been together, Sean has really expanded Jake's horizons and now we love traveling together and seeing new places we've never been.
It's almost impossible to pick a favorite moment from our wedding. The entire day was simply perfect. We had so much fun with our friends and immediate family getting ready and being pampered. The photographer we worked with - Kevin DeMassio Photography - made taking photos so fun and care-free. After dinner, we remember looking around the room and seeing everyone who's ever meant something to us having such a good time... it was euphoric. Perhaps what stands out the most is when we were introduced for the first time as husbands. We chose to walk out to 'We Found Love' by Rihanna, and it was so thrilling to hear the music, feel the beat drop and enter the room hand-in- hand while everyone was celebrating us. Whenever we hear the song, even now, it takes us back to that unbelievable moment.
Our favorite line from our vows has to be: “These are the hands that even when wrinkled and aged, will still be reaching for yours, still giving you the same unspoken tenderness with just a touch.”
