I became an ordained minister and licensed officiant in 2016. I was drawn to this profession while planning my own wedding. I noticed there was a need for an officiant in Atlanta who is a card-carrying member of the LGBTQ+ community and also specializes in non-traditional weddings. With the encouragement and support of my wife, and my passion for Marriage Equality, I became The Modern Officiant.
I love meeting couples and hearing the story of how they fell in love and decided to spend their lives together. When the Supreme Court ruled in favor of Marriage Equality, I was overjoyed just thinking about all the couples who could now marry legally. I want to help make the wedding experience exciting and memorable for couples whose friends and families may not be supportive of their decision to marry the person they love. Marriage is not about gender – it is only about the beautiful union of two souls. I am also a certified Premarital Counseling Facilitator and Relationship Coach, helping couples prepare for what is to come AFTER the wedding.
