Cesar and Sai initially made contact over Tinder when Cesar was visiting the United States for the first time. They quickly added each other over WhatsApp, and even though they weren’t able to get together while Cesar was in the US, the conversation didn’t stop once he returned to Colombia.

Over the following months, they continued to message back and forth until Cesar decided that he would return back to the USA and live their permanently. It wasn’t long before the two decided to finally meet. They entered their journey together on June 8th, 2018 when they met in person for the first time and had their first date. “I was so nervous because I still didn't know any English at the time. When he reached the corner of the street, I noticed that he was even more handsome than I remembered him from online. In my head I felt so insecure and repeated questions like, ‘Am I really his type?’” Regardless of the nerves from the beginning, Cesar and Sai continued to see each other, proceeding with multiple dinner dates before spending a weekend together. “We had a ton of fun together and we decided to become boyfriends. Day after day, he reminded me that he was the right man for me to have a great future with.”

Just months later, on Valentine’s Day, it was apparent where their relationship was heading. “Seeing his eyes, I knew he was in love with me.” On Valentine's Day, Sai kneeled down in front of Cesar and asked him the ultimate question, “Will you marry me?”

With an immediate yes, Cesar and Sai began talking over dinner how they would one day get married on the banks of the Hudson River overlooking New York City. The wedding date was set for June 23rd, 2019 — just one year after their first date. Cesar and Sai held a small ceremony with 25 of the people closest in their lives. They celebrated their love alongside the Hudson River in Jersey City, hosting dinner after the ceremony. “My favorite part of the wedding was when I held his hands and looked at this eyes while saying my vows. ‘We will write our own love story and together we will overcome the good and bad times. For when the years go by, we will have the best stories to remember.’” Another line from their vows reads, “I know life is not a fairytale, but I also know that together we can conquer anything.”
