Where to Wed in Malta

There is an abundance of outstanding wedding venues on this small island nation. No matter your dream for your dream wedding, Malta will make it come true for you when it comes to where to say “I do.” Following are a selection of our favorite wedding venues across Malta.

Villa Bighi

Formerly the Bighi Royal Naval Hospital, now the Malta Center for Restoration, Villa Bighi offers stunning views of Valletta’s Grand Harbor. Its terraces and gardens are unrivaled for larger receptions and its location is the best seat in the house for the Malta International Firework Festival in April.

Hotel Phoenicia

For a truly historic experience of Malta, the 5-star Hotel Phoenicia offers the majesty of its Grand Ballroom (Queen Elizabeth danced here, once) and the outdoor glory of its Bastion Pool. No matter where you are on the property, you’ll bask in Valletta’s history and views.

Xara Palace

The Relais & Chateaux Xara Palace in Mdina, the island’s original fortified capital, is set in a 17th-century palazzo. The central courtyard offers one of the most romantic settings in the city while the restaurant, Mondion, lends an experience of fortification as it is set in the city’s bastion walls. Rent the whole palace for the most fairy tale of weddings.

The family-run Palazzo Consiglia is a converted townhouse that is the spot for those who want to revel all-night long and recover all-day long, what with its bustling 24-hour bar and top-flight spa facility. And, for the truly resilient, a jog around the Lower Barrack Gardens is within walking distance! Take over the 13 individually designed rooms for an unforgettable wedding weekend.

San Niklaw Estate

The San Niklaw Estate, located in the south-east corner of Malta, is among the most picturesque destinations in the region. The 7-acre vineyard hosts a 17th-century chapel, country estate with underground wine cellar and 500 olive trees. All wine served here is from the estate making for no better Maltese destination for in-love oenophiles and their guests.
