WFH. WTF!? 5 Tips for Working from Home

While work was always “work” in pre-Covid-19-days, it was a great mediator and moderator of time spent with our loved ones. We once took for granted being able to be apart for a minimum of 40-hours a week. Today, we’d kill for even 4-hours apart!

So, while you might already be weeks into your WFH reality, we still feel the need to share tips to help make the most of being at work/home/work/gym/home/work with your plus one.

Get ready for Work (from home)

Much as we’d love to wear our power-suit PJs to the duvet conference room, it makes a major difference when you get your drag on. Not only do you feel better for having showered, shaved and put on your finer duds, it also helps draw a distinction between home-life and work-life when both are under the same roof.

Go to Work (from home)

Whether you’re living in a studio with your fella or commuting to the East wing of your man manse, define your spaces. If your office is the coffee table and his is the kitchen table, make sure you have separate spots. And, if at all possible, make sure the bedroom remains a “home space” for you both.

Set Boundaries to Work (from home)

One of you might work in sprints, the other in fits and starts. Talk to each other about your respective working styles and agree how you will accommodate these. Go so far as to jointly developing a calendar for when you’ll each be on Zoom conference calls.

Take a Break from Work (from home)

Plan to take breaks together: schedule coffee and lunch breaks together. And, depending on the rules your hometown has imposed, plan on separate walks. This will help you each clear your head and get some uninterrupted work done. But, definitely end your work day at the same time.

Take a Sex Break from Work (from home)

We’ve all had some sort of fantasy about getting it on at work. Well, there is no time like the present to play out that sexy-boss-reprimanding-you-for-being-a-bad-bad-man fantasy! And, if you have it in you, carry it right in to running-into-your-sexy-boss-in-the-shower fantasy. See, WFH might just have its upside.

Stay healthy, safe and sane!
