Sólo Amor began as an observation. After years of photographing weddings it became more and more apparent just how difficult wedding planning was for same sex couples, and this bothered me. You see, as a straight, white male, planning my wedding with my wife was full of the normal stressors; finding a venue we liked, food tasting, figuring out who to invite (or rather not invite), fighting with family over the cost…ya know, the normal stuff. Never once though did we have to consider whether or not a vendor would provide their services to us, and that’s a form of privilege I didn’t even know I had. That was 2013. I shot my first wedding in 2014 and all these years later, I’m working to change all of that.

As a same sex couple you shouldn’t have to browse site after site for a photographer just hoping they will photograph your wedding. You shouldn’t have to fall in love with someone’s work, only to discover they won’t capture your love, because at the end of the day that’s what this job is about. Love. Nothing else, just love.

So with that observation came an idea. Rather than be yet another photographer operating within the walls of heteronormativity, why not break those walls down? Because honestly, you deserve better.

And thus, Sólo Amor was born.
