Daniel Colonel's Cakes

Creating someones’ love story through desserts is my favorite part of the job!

Everyone has their own story. Before I start creating something for a couple, getting to know more about them and their love story is vital. Since every couple is different, I want to ensure that they feel special and that I am creating something completely custom for their wedding!

Wedding cakes don’t always have to be white cakes with flowers. As a gay male myself, I especially love creating experiences through cakes and desserts for grooms. They are usually looking for something non-traditional, which I always find more fun! The cake should encapsulate the love story and style of the couple from flavor to aesthetic. I do this by incorporating different shapes, textures, colors, and flavors. I’ve been baking professionally for a long time and like to take familiar flavors, but make them more special and interesting. I try to stray couples away from choosing a vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream in the hopes to “please everyone.”

In addition to creating cakes, I also make mini desserts in cones, which can be on display and provide something different from the traditional wedding cake. Guests can easily go to the dessert display to try various handled desserts while mingling, dancing, and enjoying the wedding. The flavors can be custom to reflect the couples’ pallets. Being able to connect with the couple, making them feel special, and creating their love story through desserts is the best part of my job!
